Case 1

A good amateur cyclist developed a deformity of the left upper tibia due to growth plate damage. He commented that he had become largely dependent on his right leg. His left leg did not hurt but it felt weak. Keen to progress his cycling career he elected to have reconstructive surgery. He had 30 degrees of anterior angulation, 7 degrees of valgus and 2.5cm of shortening. A Sheffield Hybrid Fixator was applied and a progressive deformity correction performed. New bone formation filled the ostetomy gap. He was able to exercise throughout the treatment. The fixator was removed at 28 weeks. Limb symmetry was achieved and he went back to cycling.
